Donate to Clallam County ARES
Press Release
There is a western Washington
501(c)(3) non-profit umbrella that can accept
tax-deductible donations of money, radios, etc. and
forward the donation to our local Clallam County ARES
group! If you would like to donate, please refer to the
information at
www.wastateares.org/non-profit (EIN
20-5472400), and be sure to indicate that your donation
is intended for Clallam County ARES - note this on the
Memo line of your check.
What will your money be used for? Much of the CCARES
equipment is old and outdated. Agency budgets are always
stretched thin, so updating this equipment is a low
priority. In addition, CCARES would like to be able to
equip a portable communications center to deploy as the
EOC radio room when those buildings are damaged.
If a friend or family member ham operator no longer
needs their radio equipment; please consider donating it
to CCARES.
For information on what amount you can claim for your
donation, start with
IRS
Charitable Contributions website. Clallam County
ARES falls under item 2 of the Charitable Organizations
list.

CCARES maintains
fixed radio operations rooms in the Clallam County Courthouse and in
fire stations at Diamond Point, Sequim, Port Angeles, Joyce, Clallam
Bay and Forks. There is also a backup EOC radio room in the Sequim
Transit Center. Peninsula College, Olympic Medical Center and the
American Red Cross Carlsborg operations center also have CCARES
staffed radio rooms. Most of those centers also maintain portable
radio kits for use when the center building is compromised.
CCARES conducts weekly communications
tests between the EOC, ECCs and State agencies. They also hold
inter-agency exercises with Red Cross, Customs, Coast Guard,
National Guard, prisons, school districts and other organizations
several times a year to be ready for when the community needs them.
